About Jef Petersen

Jef Petersen is a director, playwright, actor, and member of the Dramatist Guild. He is an Assistant Professor of directing, history, and playwriting at Idaho State University in the Department of Theatre of the School of Performing Arts. He’s the KCACTF National Playwriting Program Vice-Chair. His plays, The Naked Play, and An Elaborate System of Ropes and Pulleys, have been performed all over the United States. Emme and the Taking of the Woods, Jef’s newest play, was the 2023 co-recipient of the KCACTF David Mark Cohen Playwriting Award. He holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing and Directing from the University of Idaho, and an MA in Theatre Arts from the University of Oregon.
