Playwriting

I have lived in Idaho and Oregon my entire life, and my plays tend to reflect the polarized ideals of these two states. Characters in my plays find themselves being pulled in many different directions, typically by contradictory internal and external forces. I attempt to write characters who are every-man and -woman spanning from the hyper verbose to the nonverbal, who pursue their dreams with vigor, reaching surprising and sometimes shocking outcomes. Currently my plays are a blend of social commentary, quirky humor, and a touch of surrealism. My writing trends toward domestic drama with an emphasis on relationships and navigating existential predicaments. I strive to write plays that are intentionally theatrical, taking full advantage of the medium and providing challenges for directors, designers, actors, and audiences.
